Product description
One of the most successful titles of the “Racing Lives” series was devoted to Tazio Nuvolari in 2003, the 50th anniversary of the death of the “Flying Mantuan”. Now, the 12th volume in the series is a new biography of Achille Varzi, the driver who was one of Nuvolari’s proudest antagonists and certainly the one who, with Tazio, divided the Italians into two factions of unyielding passion. It is no coincidence that this book makes reference in its title to both of these unforgettable motor racing personalities of the sport’s golden age between the two world wars of the 20th century: Varzi: The dark shadow of Nuvolari. The text resumes that of another little best seller published by Giorgio Nada Editore, Una Curva Cieca, also by Giorgio Terruzzi, which appeared in 1991 and is now in a much more extensive version with over 200 photographs and a vast array of documentation. The project and editing of the work is once more by Gianni Cancellieri, while the preface has been written by his traditional partner, Cesare De Agostini.
