After 14 years of racing in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), Matt Neal has finally fulfilled his dream of winning the title. The Honda rider became the first privateer rider to win the championship since 1991, and he did so in front of cheering crowds who cheered the ‘Campione del Popolo’ on the top step of the podium.
The season was closely contested, with Neal facing competition from two of the strongest riders in the championship: defending champion Yvan Muller and 2001 title holder Jason Plato. Neal had three victories, to Muller’s five and Plato’s four, but was ultimately able to win the title through consistency and determination.
The season was full of twists and turns, with several riders fighting for the title until the end. Neal had to overcome a number of difficulties, including a qualifying crash at Brands Hatch which cost him victory in the race. However, Neal always knew how to get back up and continued to fight for the title until the last round.
Neal’s win is a success story that proves that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. Neal is a talented driver who has dedicated his entire life to motorsport. His victory is an inspiration to all riders who dream of winning a championship.
