It has been exactly 150 years since a certain Nikolaus August Otto, with the help of Daimler and Maybach, tuned the internal combustion engine. It’s just a shame that the invention had already been invented in 1853 by the Italians Eugenio Barsanti and Felice Matteucci and a year later patented. Well 22 years before. But you know, we Italians are people of heart, and instead of banging our fists on the table we smiled, shrugged and served a good coffee. However, let’s face it, the Italic pride is already there, with its swollen chest and its tail open to make the wheel like that of a peacock, ready to wave the tricolor and proclaim: “we did it before!”.
And then if we talk about dressing cars, here there is none for anyone: the high fashion of steel and aluminum is our stuff, period. Bertone, Pinin Farina, Scaglione, Giugiaro, Fumia – and we could continue until the end of the editorial, but we would need a supplement – are a part of the “tailors” of an elegance that the whole world envies us. We at Profumo di Alfa are lucky enough to tell it, photograph it and print it. And if you don’t believe it, go ahead and leaf through the pages of the issue you have in your hands: we challenge you not to be amazed.
And then there are the stories of women and men who, for work or passion, ensure that the Alfa Romeo brand and its creatures continue to circulate in perfect condition as they have just left the factory. That’s why we keep telling them these stories. Because more Italians than that, really, you can’t. And excuse us Germans, English and… French.
