The mid-seventies marked the beginning of difficult times for the Porsche 911. The concepts of modern vehicles such as the 924 and 928 were all the rage within the Porsche. Chairman of the board Fuhrmann was even planning to allocate the Porsche 928 as the successor to the legendary 911. The production of the most significant car ever produced by Porsche to date could be stopped at the end of 1982. Fortunately during this time, a German engineer and his team fought for the survival of the 911 and it is thanks to them that the model survived this critical phase. The book reports for the first time the power struggles within the Porsche. The author Andreas Gabriel even met the man who should be considered the true savior of the 911.
The book also introduces the author of the most popular interior designs of the Porsche sports cars of the seventies, eighties and nineties. The then head of the design department Anatole Lapine hired Vlasta Hatter in 1976. Together they developed the legendary design of the Pascha Velour upholstery.
The book presents every single model of the G-model series. In addition to the buying advice and price developments in recent years, all eight special models, some of which are completely unknown even to the experts, are covered here in detail.
Former Porsche employees have opened their archives for the creation of this book, which is why unpublished photographs of the testing phase of the model G can be shown.
