Pebble Beach is known today for the annual Concours d`Elegance that pits beautifully restored classic and historic cars against each other in a largely static event. In the 1950s, Pebble Beach was host to a much more spectacular event, the Pebble Beach races. The races were run over a course laid out over private roads within the Del Monte Properties, which avoided the legal complications invloved in racing on closed public roads. This scrap book describes the classic race meetings held from 1950 to 1957 over the incredibly dangerous, tree-lined roads of Pebble Beach.
