Product description
A car with an incredible history and shrouded in secrets, named “Alcinoo” after a royal thoroughbred housed at the Quirinal Stables in the late 1930s.
Commissioned by King Vittorio Emanuele III, the Fiat Torpedo 2.8 cabrio, designed by “Pinin” Farina, became the flagship of six units built for Casa Savoia in 1939.
Used during dramatic times by Benito Mussolini, its first guest was Adolf Hitler. The car hosted monarchs, heads of state, dictators, and pontiffs before falling into German hands. After the war and monarchy ended, “Alcinoo” served Italy’s presidents, from Enrico De Nicola to Antonio Segni, who retired it in 1962.
Rediscovered in 1970 by entrepreneur Raffaele Bacelliere, it is now being restored by his son Gabriele, bringing back to life a symbol of Italy’s past through memories and photographs.
