Louis Chriron, for several reasons, was an out-of-the-box driver. For his origin, Principality of Monaco, for his social background (he came from a family of winemakers) and for the peculiar way in which he secured himself the resources for racing, thanks to a wealthy lady who sponsored him in 1925 in some car races . Chiron had quite a long career and is the oldest driver to have ever participated in a Formula 1 GP to date, having completed his last race at the age of 55.
