Product description
It’s been 40 years since Lancia caused a sensation with the Delta designed by Giorgio Giugiaro – in normal road traffic as well as in motor sport. Designed for the then fast-growing compact family car market, the Delta was aimed at drivers who wanted the comforts of a luxury car in a less ostentatious body. The European car of 1980 was also technically sophisticated in the best Lancia tradition. The Delta range became increasingly refined over the years, with better and better engines, and was soon used in motorsport. In the late 1980s and the 1990s, Deltas dominated the World Rally Championship. In total, almost 500,000 cars were built in twelve years, including some interesting special models. In addition to the production cars of the three Delta generations, the book presents studies and prototypes, shows examples of Lancia advertising, provides sports reports and a review of the reactions in the international press.
