SPONSORED BY AUTOMOBILE CLUB MILANO FOREWORD BY GERONIMO LA RUSSA, President of Automobile Club Milano Racing for Gran Turismo cars have played a very important role in the history of the racetrack in Monza. In the 1970s, the Intereuropa Cup was one of the most popular events. Then, over time, the interest in GTs waned and only in 1992 was an Italian GT Championship created, which marked the rebirth of this type of racing with a growth that has since become exponential, with a whole series of international championships and top-level cars and drivers. This volume traces the complex and articulated history of these championships, from the immediate postwar period to today, with specific chapters – always introduced by a framework on complex regulatory aspects – dedicated to Groups 3, 4 and 5 until the advent of Group B, to the “passage” of the automobile Giro d’Italia in Monza, to the BPR – FIA GT and Blancpain GT, to the GT Open and ELMS WEC to arrive at the Creventic 24H Series and the DTM.The iconographic repertoire is vast, with over 400 images, mostly unpublished.
