Ferrari 333 Sp A Pictorial History 1993-2003

This book details the origins of the Ferrari 333 SP, and with the aid of many previously unpublished period photographs, portrays a graphic race history of the car; a car built specifically for use by privateers. After an absence of twenty years in sports car competition, this Ferrari prototype sports car was produced with the assistance of Dallara, and then Michelotto, being introduced on the racing circuits of America in 1994. The 333 SP achieved instant success in 1994, competing in the American IMSA World Sports Championship, and winning that Series in 1995. The car continued to be a major player in the various Sports Prototype races in America and Europe during the following decade. None of the forty 333 SP models were entered into races by the Ferrari factory. The cars were sold to customer teams and individuals, with a purchase price of $900,000, though for that price the car came with two spare engines and race technical support supplied by Ferrari engineers. Of the original 40 cars built, 27 were raced, and those cars are pictured in this book. From the 126 races entered, the 333 SP claimed 49 victories, to make it one of Ferrari’s most iconic Sports Prototype cars of all time. From 1994, the cars contested the IMSA World Sports Car Championship, the United States Road Racing Championship and the American Le Mans Series at circuits throughout North America. From 1997, the cars also featured in the Europe-based International Sports Racing Series, as well as the 24-hour Le Mans race.
