Product description

A volume published by ASI Service to remember the figure of Carlo Chiti on the hundredth anniversary of his birth. The large format volume tells the human and sporting life of the Tuscan technician, the undisputed protagonist with Alfa Romeo at the beginning of his long career and then with Scuderia Ferrari, ATS, Autodelta, again with Alfa for a very long season and then with Motori Moderni, Minardi, Subaru and Montecarlo Automobile.

The author, Danilo Castellarin, revives this character by retracing his life and that of those who lived by his side such as his children Olga and Arturo and those of those who worked with him, including pilots with marked personalities, who spoke to enthusiasts and journalists without repeating the poems learned by heart to please the sponsors. Even Chiti, as a good Tuscan, spoke frankly and the book reports his lashing and controversial statements, drawing them from the chronicles of the time. Loose tongue, but big heart: Chiti was the only one to make a safe anti-flame tank because he couldn’t stand to see the pilots die.

In 1961 he left the prestigious position of technical director of Ferrari out of solidarity with the ‘Angeli Rebelli’, the leaders of Cavallino who asked for more respect to the Drake.
