Product description
Close to 100 different coachbuilders, most from London, fitted bodywork to Bentley chassis between 1921 -’31. Sadly, many of these grand original designs have been lost, but Walker’s book pays homage with a superb picture selection including colour studies of five survivors. Rather than break down the layout to individual companies, Walker has themed it by body style from saloons to tourers. The text lacks human stories, and describing body details can be a dull process, but pictures, many from Tim Houlding’s collection, are the strength of this book. Among the magnificent creations are some bizarre fashions such as the 61/2-litre Vanden Plas drophead with wood-grain body finish.
