Parker Chas

Chas Parker began his working life in the field of astronomy, eventually becoming press officer for the Royal Greenwich Observatory and co-editor of its in-house journal, Gemini.

He left the scientific community to become editor of a magazine for users of Hewlett-Packard business computers, HP World, before pursuing a career writing about motorsport, for which he has held a passion since his teens. He was motoring correspondent for Sussex Life magazine for a time and in recent years has worked as a freelance sub-editor and occasional contributor on publications such as Autosport and Motorsport News. He is also a contributor to The Paddock Magazine and writes regular blogs for the website carrentals.co.uk. He is the author of four books – Motor Racing at Brands Hatch in the Seventies (Veloce, 2004); Brands Hatch – the definitive history of Britain’s best-loved motor racing circuit – foreword by Bernie Ecclestone (Haynes 2008); Motor Racing at Brands Hatch in the Eighties (Veloce, 2009); Endurance Racing at Silverstone in the 1970s & 1980s (Veloce, 2010). He lives in East Sussex.
