Gianni Cancellieri (Mantua, 1934) is the doyen of Italian motorsport historians. His journalistic career, on which he embarked more than 60 years ago, saw him responsible for the motorsport column of the Gazzetta dello Sport and then editing specialist periodicals such as Automondo, Autosprint, Auto and Ruoteclassiche. He entered the freelance world in 1993. “Formula 1 Portraits. Gli anni Sessanta/The Sixties “– published with Giorgio Nada Editore in 2021 – is his 54th book as an author or co-author, while he has overseen the planning and production of a further 37. Most of these works – including the entire “Vite da corsa” series and the commemorative books of the 50th anniversary of Ferrari and the 100th anniversary of the Targa Florio – were published for Giorgio Nada Editore.
He coordinated the volume “Motori” for the Enciclopedia Treccani dello Sport (2002) and curated the exhibition «Quando scatta Nuvolari…» (2009). He has been the curator of the Tazio Nuvolari Museum in Mantua for years.
